Do you want to contribute to the Plucky-sphere through labor?

This page is intended to help you determine if you’d be a good fit for us, and if we’d be a good fit for you.

Do you require a lot of money? If so, we’re a bad fit for you because our highest paid employee has been making less than minimum wage for the past 10 years.

Do you love Jesus? If not, we’re probably a bad fit for you because we dedicate our work to him. He and faith in him are the only reasons we are willing to work on this labor of love despite the low pay.

Can you work independently? If not, we’re probably a bad fit because we are small and extraordinarily busy.

Are you skilled in some way? If not, I’m not sure how we could use your contribution. Maybe you have some good ideas.

Do you think it likely you would contribute labor for at least 6 months? If not and you hope to contribute by coding, realize that there is a lot of overhead in integrating a new contributor, and your contribution might be a net negative unless you are highly skilled already and have specific ideas of how you can contribute in a shorter time frame.

Are you a Plucky or Andoff user who wants to contribute through coding? If so, we recommend you first consider the consequences of working on self-tools that you yourself use.

Can you communicate in English? If not, it may be rough going.

Do you have a lot of integrity? Do you strive to love others like yourself? If not, you’re not a good fit for us.

As for us, we’re definitely imperfect. We don’t expect you to be perfect, but we do expect that when we work together, the guiding principles in decision making will be: Does that serve the Lord? Is that in the best interests of the user? Is it responsible? Is it loving?

If you successfully made it through the above gauntlet, then feel free to reach out to let us know more about you and how you might contribute. Include details such as your age, country, employment status, three favorite books, and why you feel moved to try and work with us. If you’re technical, please describe your technical experience, including familiarity with programming languages and frameworks, as well as any noteworthy projects you’ve worked on. Please also include anything else that you think would help us understand exactly who you are and how you might contribute.

If you didn’t make it through and you’re a Christian, we commend you on to other good works that the Lord has prepared for you.

If you didn’t make it through and you’re not a Christian, we know a little less what to commend you to because we’re not as sure the Lord has prepared good works for you. Maybe he has! You certainly can do good works. But are they prepared for you in the same way? We don’t know! It’d be simpler for us if you just chose to follow Jesus so we didn’t have to finish this page with this awkward paragraph explaining that while we really want everybody to follow Jesus, we also don’t want those who don’t to feel like we think they are non-persons. Plus you’d get eternal life. Not too shabby. Well, that is, if you’re a real Christian who does the will of God and not a phony one who does things in Jesus’s name but doesn’t actually do the will of God. Oh dear, this is getting terribly long and complicated. Um, bye for now!
